Bournemouth £300k investment programme to attract start-ups

How fantastic is it to see that the UK’s fastest growing digital economy, Bournemouth, hasn’t slowed down since its recent time in the spotlight? Our tech hub is truly walking the walk as we hear about yet another fantastic scheme to attract even more businesses to our South Coast digital city.

This time, Silicon South has joined forces with Creative England to create ‘First Bourne’, a high-profile, 3 month, accelerator programme for Bournemouth. First Bourne offers generous investments of £25k and a comprehensive programme of business advice, support and mentoring to eight lucky product-led digital companies, to accelerate growth. The leading two companies will also then be offered a further £50k follow-on funding.

The three-month accelerator is especially relevant to start-ups involved in app development, online, mobile, data, games, Internet of Things and software. First Bourne is focussing on ‘Applied Digital’ where digital techniques and outputs are applied in other sectors that aren’t traditionally associated with the creative digital industries. First Bourne also encourages ideas around 3D modelling and Virtual Reality – which both have strong regional foundations especially from Bournemouth’s two universities.

At CORETX, we are a founding member of Silicon South and so are strong advocates of the level of support that can be retrieved through these channels and like to think we are great ambassadors for what can be achieved with the right guidance, assistance and support network around you. We are also proud to highlight that the mentors lined up to support this ambition, including Amuzo, Bright Blue Day and Base are all CORETX customers and like-minded local businesses who we have a long standing relationship with.

“The Silicon South region is a magnet for entrepreneurs. Our strong open, business economy, both in creative industries and other verticals such as healthcare, finance and advanced engineering, together with a stunning lifestyle and two world class universities, make it a great place to be a digital innovator. By providing startups with the ability to access the right kind of mentoring, funding and expertise we hope to drive the continued growth of successful digital businesses.”
Nuno Almeida, Board Director, Silicon South.
